VERMAS message for SOLAS

N4 also supports the Inbound VERMAS D.16A message, which provides Verified Gross Mass to trading partners. VERMAS is used for transmitting container VGM and related information as required by SOLAS.

SNX Support:

N4 provides SNX support for exporting and importing the VGM attributes verifiedGrossWt, verifiedGrossWtUnit, vgmEntity, vgmVerifiedDate for the following EDI XML schema definitions:

The customers upgrading to latest versions should use only the latest dictionary and mapping file without which both the inbound message posting and outbound extraction may not work as needed. To support these changes, you need to update all of these EDI message types and respective standard EDI message maps using the Administration DBASet-up Database viewSet-up EDI Message Types and Maps button.

Configure posting rules to allow EDI to override VGM values

You can set up EDI posting rules to determine which sources should be able to overwrite the VGM Weight field for a unit. In the following example, we're going to configure a posting rule for VGM for loadlists, such as COPRAR. However, you can use the same steps to configure any posting rule variations that you need.

To configure a posting rule that allows an EDI message to override the VGM value for a unit:

For this example, select the Inbound LOADLIST EDI class.

Select VGM Weight from the Weight property group.

In the right pane, select the Posting Rule criteria as Existing Source.
From the second drop-down list, select is (=) as the operator.
From the third drop-down list, select a source, such as Load List EDI.

Select Add Criterion.

The criteria is displayed as an If statement below.

Click Set Value. From the Posting Action drop-down, select Apply or Ignore.

If you select Apply: N4 allows updates to the VGM Weight if the selected criteria is true.
If you select Ignore: N4 ignores updates to the VGM Weight if the selected criteria is true.

Click Save.

You will need to follow this process for every EDI source, or further configure as needed.
